The Mandarin is restored to his former greatness (with the help of fan favorite Fin Fang Foom) and another mysterious player Chen Hsu who likewise isn’t explained. What also is incomplete in the story is the story of the Mandarin which takes up a large portion of the collection.

DeWitt’s motives and actions aren’t really explained in the volume (Stark doesn’t recognize him) and he is supposed to be a mysterious figure…but it feels rather incomplete as “rounded story” in that sense. The Marrs Corporation (which plagued Namor at this time) is behind the initially takeover but it falls largely on a man named Kearson DeWitt who is running the project.
Iron wars 2 series#
The series doesn’t really have a tie to the original Armor Wars storyline, but simply has Tony fighting corruption from within…in this case literally. The first aspect of the story is that Armor Wars II is kind of in title only.

Armor Wars was a big run in the original Iron Man series and the follow-up Armor Wars II kicked off the 1990s…and feels like it falls somewhere between a 1990s comic and a 1980s style comic.
Iron wars 2 movie#
I actually liked the movie a lot more than the comic in that sense. Iron Man has never been one of my favorite Marvel heroes. In 2013, a four issue series numbered Iron Man (1) #258.1-258.4 was released by David Michelinie called Iron Man: Armored Vengeance. Featuring art by John Romita Jr., issues in the collection were also collected as part of Iron Man Epic Collection-Volume 17: War Games. Written by John Byrne, Iron Man: Armor Wars II is a Marvel Comics superhero comic book collection. Meanwhile as Tony seeks answers to his medical condition, one of Iron Man’s oldest villains is rising in China…the Mandarin has a new lease on life and could bring the world to its knees. When Tony collapses during a battle with his enemy Living Laser, Tony realizes something is wrong with him…and he doesn’t know if he can continue to be Iron Man if he doesn’t find out what is wrong. He’s being monitored, controlled, and he doesn’t even know it. The injured Tony crawls along the floor to meet… Doctor Doom….Reprints Iron Man (1) #258-266 (July 1990-March 1991). Iron Man removes the helmet to reveal the Soviet heroine Fantasma who stuns him with a hypnotic spell then flies away. As Pepper evacuates the building, Tony lures the enemy Iron Man away and manages to sneak up behind the invader and short out the comm system. As they argue, Iron Man crashes into the room, knocks Wyndham down, and attacks Tony. But when he reveals that Tony Stark is still alive, Rostov personally executes the Dynamo for his failure….Īt the office, Tony is confronted by Congressman Wyndham over the loss of the new armor, demanding he produce the suit or refund the five billion dollars paid by the government. In Russia, the Dynamo reports back to General Rostov, the Red Barbarian, that the mission was a success, all of the armors were taken. Tony and Rhodey head back to the company to find the armory has been robbed, every suit of Iron Man armor has been stolen…. Crimson Dynamo knocks him down and blasts off through the roof. The Crimson Dynamo appears and opens fire into the hall as Rhodey helps everyone to get to safety, Tony draws the villain away then ambushes him with a fire extinguisher. But when the curtain opens, the armor is gone. He explains to his pal Jim Rhodes that he is through producing weapons no matter what the market is demanding of him….Īt the big unveiling, where Pepper Potts is keeping an eye on snoopy members of the media, Tony takes the stage to present his newest creation, the Peacekeeper armor, carrying no weapons. He returns to his workshop where, as Tony Stark, he gets to work on his first big project since relocating his company to Los Angeles. Iron Man tracks down and captures Trump the criminal magician and he is immediately surrounded by adoring fans and must make his getaway.
